1. FOLLOWING THE CROWD/FRIEND -

This is one of the most common mistakes which most of the students unknowingly make. Many students just take up any stream because their friends have decided to take that stream. This can turn out to be the worst decision of their lives.

It is necessary that you chose the stream which you are most passionate about rather than doing what most of the students are doing.

2. BECOMING A VICTIM OF SOCIETY & FAMILY OPINIONS -

Let’s look at a common scenario.
You: Dad, I want to take up Arts stream.
Dad: There is no future in the Arts stream. You have to take science. Look at Sharma Ji's son. He had taken up science stream and he is doing very well in life.
I am sure many students would have faced this common situation. I am sure, that many parents would have given the examples of some Sharma Ji or Gupta Ji to influence the decision of their child. This can lead to a wrong career decision.

There is no doubt that science is a good stream, but arts is also a very good stream. There is no doubt about it. Which stream you will take, you are determined, but it is not an easy task. If you are confused then, proper career guidance from an expert (career counselor), choosing a career path after 10th will be much easier.

3. CHOOSING MONEY BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE -

Money cannot buy inner happiness! If you pick a career based on money you won’t be pleased and satisfied . choosing a good career which will get you excited each morning! It will make you look forward to getting into work. Instead of getting frustrated and dissatisfied, spend nine hours in a productive way. For money do not wander away down a path which doesn’t suit you.

4. PICKING A CAREER PATH AT RANDOM -

Often students do not take their career part seriously until it’s already too late! Students opt for a course which they find easy and hassle-free! They choose it randomly without even thinking about the coincidence! Students sometimes seek to turn their hobby into a career without thinking things through.  The lack of flexibility and prudence could tend the career path into a career disaster path!
We should always think well about your career choice so that we do not face further trouble.

5. LACK OF RESEARCH OR KNOWLEDGE -

Half Knowledge is dangerous!
Lack of Knowledge/Research leads an individual to the following state -:

– Finding Possibilities & Drawbacks in every field
– No clear Futuristic Visualization
– Trusting Random Data & Opinions
– Building wrong belief about the Profession
– Self-Doubts
– Developing Non-Existing Fears
– Choosing Profession out of random data

Choosing right career options after 10th is very important. If we go back 10–20 years ago, there were very few career options to choose. But now the scenario is completely different. There are many career options available and with the help of proper career guidance and career counselling, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We need career guidance because students didn't get any idea of what are the career path are available ,which are the field they can do as their area of interest & knowledge. They have limited knowledge of career and profession.

Career counselling could start from the tender age of 3 but the need of it realized only during the turning point of one's life

First of all, every student should clear understood their career path which come under their area of interest and the subject they like most according to his knowledge and interest. Then select your career.

Many times it happens that the students flow the career path of their friends or they choose their career on the suggestion of their family member. Students forget that their friends are choosing their career as per their choice of interest and the family members are suggesting career path according to their knowledge.

Students forget that we have to choose your career according to your interest and knowledge, and they choose their career according to the suggestion of others and after that if it turns out wrong. You know what life turns out to be.

Students tend to take advice from anyone they think has an experience. But it may not always be right or let alone be the best one.
